Does it snow in Utsunomiya?
Updated: Feb 11
Answer is YES. In the past 4 years I've lived in Utsunomiya City (Tochigi, Japan), it would snow an average of once or twice a year. I heard that it used to snow more often before in the city but due to climate change, Utsunomiya barely experience snow fall nowadays.
Utsunomiya Castle Ruins Park covered in snow. February 10, 2022
We are expecting to experience snowfall today and tomorrow. So, I took the chance to take a few photos of the Utsunomiya Castle Ruins Park covered in snow. And it was beautiful.
I also saw paw prints on the snow. how cute!
These beautiful Camellia flowers that blooms in winter are capped with bits of snow.
The bridge in front of the Utsunomiya Castle Ruins Museum also looked amazing with an icy look.
The snow melts pretty quickly and doesn't pile up since temperatures in Utsunomiya, just like Tokyo, aren't as cold as Japan's mountainous regions.
